What this page is for
Here we explain, in everyday words, the terms we use at SEIKÔ. Some come from science; others are images or practices of SEIKÔ’s own.
The terms
Field
What you feel in a place or in a group: the atmosphere people create with their bodies, emotions and intentions. In SEIKÔ it is an image for talking about how we affect each other, including through what can’t be seen.
Frequency
In physics, how many times per second a wave repeats; it is measured in hertz (Hz). In SEIKÔ it is also an image: your “frequency” is how much in harmony your body, emotions, thoughts, actions and surroundings are.
Vibration
The movement of something that swings back and forth, like a guitar string. In SEIKÔ, your vibration is said to change with intention, breathing, sound and silence: the body as an instrument you can tune.
Coherence
When what you think, feel, say and do all go in the same direction. The heart also produces an electrical signal that can be measured; that is where the phrase “heart coherence” comes from.
Ritual
Something you repeat that has meaning for you. It helps you move from information to practice: what you repeat with intention becomes part of you.
Reprogramming
Consciously changing an automatic reaction or habit. It relies on repeated practice and on moments of deep relaxation, such as the theta state. The decree, a sentence said with intention, is used as a symbolic practice.
Decree
A sentence you say with intention, as part of a practice. It is symbolic: it helps direct your attention, but it does not guarantee that anything will happen.
Breathing
It brings you into the present and helps you pause. It helps you move from reacting on autopilot to choosing how to respond. Breathing at a calm, steady pace is the base of what is called heart coherence.
Nervous system
The network that links your body, your emotions and the way you think. It influences whether you are on alert or calm. Learning to calm it is an important base of wellbeing.
Theta
A type of brainwave, between 4 and 8 hertz, associated with deep relaxation. At SEIKÔ we call it the door to reprogramming.
Sound set (SET)
A sound session designed with an intention. It has a length, frequencies, textures and transitions, and a direction: from how you arrive to how you want to end.
